Gates are the most integrated reading solutions in RFID technology systems. Gate is an umbrella term for a hardware solution in which items are tagged and pass through a portal or columns equipped with a reading system.

EasyGATEs are widely integrated in logistics and retail, as they are perfect for goods management. A gate comprises one or more antennas, placed and set so that the reading is optimal, and linked to a reader, that can transmit data directly in-cloud or in turn be connected to a PC. Readers selected by EasyRFID support up to 16 antennas with 5 dBi / 9 dBi / 12 dBi power.
Usually gates are installed strategically at entrances and exits, such as loading docks, or at choke-points, areas through which the goods must pass. In retail warehouses, gates are usually installed in the packing list area, so that the document processing is sped up greatly, and in the warehouse, where the incoming goods is recorded almost istantaneously and the inventory is updated in real-time.
It is not always the case that reading systems are integrated in optimal situations; it could be for instance that there is little room available and that a shielding cage is needed to avoid reading unwanted tags. This shielding structure is a Faraday cage that can isolate the generated EM field and read only what is inside the gate.
